If you in Korea around mid-August and the end of September be sure to plan a trip to Jeonju to catch their special celebration of its traditions and culture. "The Korean Cultural Heritage Administration is hosting this starry event to celebrate the tradition Jeonju upholds and the annual tourist count of more than 10 million. Jeonju is known most for its Hanok Village, an entire village with ancient dynasty architecture. It's a city that is a literal living and breathing artifact of Korean history". "Alternative travel firm fosters bilateral ties via Korean heritage site"

Fancy visiting a traditional village in Korea that over 600 years old? The Andong Hahoe folk village was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site back in 2010 and has since been an important historical and cultural landmark popular with both locals and tourists alike. The village also served as "a bridge to better ties with Japan" over the years. "For local residents, the single-clan village presents a picturesque sight of a nostalgic past, featuring the thatched-roofed, traditional houses of the Joseon Dynasty and surrounded by the Nakdong River".

"Pokémon Go and Google get South Korean mappers thinking"

Last month the world was struck by Pokemon Go resulting in a barrage of news stories (good, bad, and sometimes tragic) about players hunting down their favourite monsters in strange and sometimes inappropriate places. In Korea, a glitch in the mapping algorithm has caused quite a stir: Pokemon have been spotted in the DMZ, for example, and one small-town being mistaken to be in America: "Local South Korean travel firms have also seen a rise in searches on Sokcho, which have translated into hotel bookings. Hotel booking website, Interpark, one of the three top travel agencies in South Korea, saw four times more room nights booked in the week it became possible to play in Sokcho versus the previous week". When you gotta catch them all, you gotta catch all, right?
