[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Man to Man" Episode 7

The ghost agent who has always done his job as he was told has now decided to go rogue in the name of love. We knew it would come to this point, but watching Seol-woo make a decision for the good of someone else sits well within me. I also love to see that Do-ha isn't just a doe-eyed damsel in distress, but a woman who will fight back.

It's a good thing too as she is kidnapped and taken hostage in order to lure Seol-woo and the two items he has in his possession that are "very important". From what I gather they seem to be the key to a lot of money. In any case, Do-ha doesn't take her kidnapping lying down and cottons onto the fact that her kidnapers are the NIS, but something more sinister. Although she doesn't manage to escape, she does manage to snag a cellphone and call Woon-gwang for help before she is caught. This makes her extra cool in my eyes.

Guided by Do-ha's call, Woon-gwang runs out to save her and teams up with Seol-woo who comes clean about his status as an agent. The following bromance manifested in battle is pretty much what this drama is about. Both Woon-gwang and Seol-woo's personalities and training manifest in their fight choreography -- Woon-gwang the action hero is loose and messy while Seol-woo the ghost agent is tight and precise. Unfortunately, this delightful partnership only lasts this episode as Seol-woo disappears into the night. Indubitably they will reunite, but it is still sad to see them part, especially after Seol-woo gets in touch with how he really feels for the first time.

As crafty as he is selfish, Seung-jae manipulated the kidnapping, calling Do-ha and Seol-woo expendable in his search for the items that will give him fortune and power. He also must get his way. Jealousy does not sit well with him as he watching Mi-eun continue her love for Woon-gwang by consistent meddling in his life. While I disapprove of Mi-eun's behavior and think she should make a clean break, Seung-jae is incorrigible. Withholding visits with their child is a form of punishment and Mi-eun seems helpless to stop it.

Congressman Baek should not be forgotten even as Seung-jae seems to hold all the cards. He reacts well to any and every situation and is a formidable enemy. I do hope my respect for him as a villian can continue. Lately dramas tend to go over-the-top in the latter half of the drama. We are just about there!
