[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Strong Woman Do Bong-soon" Episode 2

"Strong Woman Do Bong-soon" hurries past the introductory material and jumps straight into the dark deeds that throw the three main leads together. Min-hyeok is elucidated and is much more than his materialistic exterior. The same is true for Gook-doo who isn't all steely work ethic. We will certainly learn more as the violent murder mystery unfolds.

Having violence as a centerpiece of this story isn't surprising as Bong-soon's power is strength. However, murder is a surprising addition to that and I'm wondering how they will fit it in with the bubblegum sweetness of Bong-soon, the breezy disposition of Min-hyeok, and the brittleness of Gook-doo. Each of them will be greatly transformed by this and I hope the molding under pressure will be well-depicted. Thus far I really enjoy how Min-hyeok is frivolous and rude towards Bong-soon in his attempts to flirt with her, but he then turns quite serious when he realizes she could be in real danger. Gook-doo, while not romantically interested (yet) also makes sure to watch over her when danger finds her. This protective quality is valiant. Min-hyeok mentions at one point that he and Bong-soon can protect each other. Phrases like these are uttered sporadically by this chaebol and lead me to put my faith in him even though he treats many things like a game.

Insight was given into Bong-soon's family. Her twin brother is the successful sibling as a handsome medical student. Her mother expects little of her and treats Bong-soon and her submissive father quite poorly. This dynamic is also one that can be explored throughout the drama.

The culprit of the first murder and the second kidnapping is quite a creepy fellow, as interesting as he is terrifying in visage, demeanor, and cleverness. His relationship to the story is an intriguing mystery to be sure.

A complete aside: There is a woman playing cello in this episode, Gook-doo's girlfriend, which was incredibly exciting for me because I am a cellist myself. Go cello representation in Korean drama!
