[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Wanted" Episode 11

Episode eleven of "Wanted" is packed with action and suspense, as Lee  Ji-eun is put in danger when the criminals behind the seven-year-old case become desperate. The kidnapper and Na Soo-hyeon have a disagreement and the next mission is delivered to Hye-in. A life is lost and the kidnapper's plans for the reality show and their new target are about to meet great resistance. Meanwhile, the police still suspect the producers of "Wanted", adding another obstacle to the show.

I was mistaken about the motivation behind Ji-eun's (Shim Eun-woo) disappearance and I am genuinely surprised that this is an independent action on Hye-in (Kim Ah-joong) and Seung-in's (Ji Hyun-woo) part. At the same time, this is something which fits their characters. They are fixated and they bend rules when they have to. This is why they make a great investigative pair for this particular case. I do worry about the consequences they will face, but this is an emergency.

As expected, removing Ji-eun from the show has alarmed everyone and forced our villains to make a move. I suspected SG Group as the main villains from the start, because Dramaland loves its evil corporations. When the mystery of seven years ago surfaced, I hoped beyond hope that the truth would be less of a cliche. Sadly, it seems that I do not get my wish for a big twist on the Big Bad of "Wanted", unless I reach desperate levels of denial.

I also still cannot understand why Jo Nam-cheol (Park Sang-wook) was killed by Soo-hyeon (Lee Jae-kyoon) when there are only so few people left who know the truth. Perhaps I missed something in the barrage of details or perhaps the kidnapper had more to lose from the contract killer speaking than to gain. Despite these small complaints of mine, I have to commend the drama for keeping most of its logic up. It spins a complex plot most shows would have already collapsed through.

It also keeps the surprises coming, corrupt corporation notwithstanding. Lim  Hyeong-soon being an accomplice rather than a victim along with Sang-sik (Seo Hyun-chul) is an interesting assumption. If Choi Pil-gyoo (Baek Seung-hyun) is the one who ordered these deaths, where does that leave Ha Dong-min's (Son Jong-hak) lawyer friend and his mysterious call to Jo Nam-cheol before the latter's death? Could he be our kidnapper and Lim's death a way to stir things up?

Whoever the kidnapper is, this case is very personal to them, which is why Ji-eun and Soo-hyeon believe in them so much. The wish to focus an episode on finding Ji-eun and sacrificing the original plan means that this person cares. Soo-hyeon's death is pitiful, but I am curious to see how the kidnapper will react to it. I am also keeping an eye on Dong-wook (Uhm Tae-woong), because "Wanted" makes you paranoid like that.

"Wanted" is directed by Park Yong-soon, written by Han Ji-wan-I and features Kim Ah-joong, Ji Hyun-woo, Uhm Tae-woong and Park Hae-joon.
