Korean Weekend Box Office (2011.03.25~2011.03.27)

Tom Hooper's "The King's Speech" creeps up to the top spot with 173,231 admissions. The critically acclaimed film stars Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter. It's the story of King George VI's as he overcomes personal obstacles to fulfill his duty of taking up the throne of England.

Close behind big Oscar winner "The King's Speech" is "World Invasion". This blockbuster found itself 4,945 admissions short of number one this week. The film has already had over a million tickets sold thus far and is still going strong. A new Korean entry is at number 3. "My Black Mini Dress" tells the story of four 24 year olds as they try to live their lives truthfully and with plenty of spunk. It stars Yoon Eun-hye, Cha Ye-ryun, Yoo In-na, and Park Han-byul. "Late Blossom" is still with us at number 4 and has attracted a very respectable 1,225,724 moviegoers thus far.

Another new Korean entry hits us at number 5. "Clash of the Families" is Kim Jin-young third film as a director and his latest romantic comedy stars Song Sae-byeok and Lee Si-young as they find themselves caught up family drama over their relationship and marriage. Hardwicke's "Red Riding Hood" has sold 75,065 tickets for this past week and "Black Swan" is still proving popular with 55,908 admissions, giving it a grand total of 1,545,964.

Jang Jin ("Good Morning President" and "My Son") directs the romantic omnibus film "Romantic Heaven". The film tackles the issue of what happens to people who leave this world and what they leave behind. Roger Michell's "Morning Glory" is hovering at number 9 and the massive Indian superstar Shahrukh Khan stars in "My name is Khan". He plays a man with Asperger's syndrome who has a message for the US president. The film has received mixed reviews and has created some controversy in India.
