<p style=Kim Hwi's new thriller "Neighbors" has denied Choi Dong-hoon's "The Thieves" a fifth straight week at the top. Kim has been involved in a number of productions, including working on the script for "Haeundae", but this is his first directorial attempt on the mainstream cinema circuit. The film clinched 31.10% of the weekend's ticket sales, that adds up to be 782,200 admissions in its opening weekend. After last week's close race for the top, Kim Joo-ho's "The Grand Heist" managed to get one back on Choi's blockbuster hit. Overall, the local hits dominated the top end of the chart, holding more than 70% of all tickets sold over the weekend.

<p style="The Grand Heist" came in with 537,468 (20%), after having narrowly missed out at it's only real chance of hit number one last week. Kim's historical comedy only just scrapped past Choi Dong-hoon's "The Thieves" which added 513,814 to its recording breaking total of 12,095,085. Despite holding Korea's golden boy Rain, "R2B: Return to Base" only managed to hold its ground at number four with 182,876 (6.80%), leaving Kim Dong-weon's action drama a total admissions count of just 1,059,701.

<p style=That was it for the local favorites as the new "Total Recall" settled for fifth with 172,672 admissions, followed by the urban musical "Step Up Revolution" which was down one place from last week with 165,122 (6.50%). Belgium's "Sammy's Adventures 2" is enjoying its fourth straight week in the top ten now. The highest position it has held was number three in its opening weekend, since then then film has managed to survive all August's challengers to walk away with a total admissions count of 1,401,327.

<p style=Over to Germany now, as "Animals United" pulls a small comeback after being last weekends number ten. Despite that effort the film hasn't got too much else to brag about with its total tickets sales being just 275,373 admissions in three weeks. At nine is "The Dark Knight Rises" with 29,518 (1.30%), placing Hollywood's much loved hero on a total count now of 6,359,463. Impressive, for sure, but the film was up against some tough local competition during its run in Korea as it had to contend with the likes of "The Thieves" early on. Lastly, "Red Lights" rounds out the list with 29,396 in its opening weekend spell. This one's a thriller from director Rodrigo Cortes and starts Sigourney Weaver, Robert De Niro and Cillian Murphy.
