After the mad August rush that washed over the Korean box office last year, Huh Jung's debut feature "Hide and Seek" entered the game and coasted to 5.6 million admissions. The film also scored this young talent the Best Director prize at the 33rd Korean Association of Film Critics Awards and, despite its struggle for sustained narrative purchase, went onto become one of the highest grossing films of 2013 by outperforming such hits as "The Terror Live" (5.5M), "Cold Eyes" (5.5M), and "The New World" (4.6M). Its dark and meandering mystery was menacing and cruel, its visual, at times, lurid and sickly. Enjoy! [spoilers]
