[HanCinema's News] Filming Completed for "King the Land"

According to a recent news report, on June 6th lead actors Lee Junho and Lim Yoona have completed filming for the upcoming television drama "King the Land" on JTBC. Purportedly, "King the Land" first started its filming back in September. The end of nine months work of filming work is expected to be followed up with significant post-production work as well. The weekend drama is being produced by npio Entertainment, BY4M Studio and Studio LuluLala.

The casting alone has long drawn significant attention to the project. This is the first role for Lee Junho in a television drama since "Red Sleeve" in 2021 and the first for Lim Yoona since "Big Mouth" back in 2022. "King the Land" is also significant for being a romantic comedy. Despite both actors being best known by their reputations as heartthrobs, they generally only appear in romantic dramas or mixed genre pieces.

The closest either has come to a romantic comedy role was "The Prime Minister and I" nearly ten years ago- but even there Lim Yoona was playing alongside the significantly older Lee Beom-soo, and not an actor closer to her age. Expectations for "King the Land" are running high. After a massive hit late last year with "Reborn Rich" hitting 26.9% ratings, "Agency" and "Doctor Cha" have been similarly strong in the weekend timeslot, with ratings highs of 16% and 18.5% respectively.

"King the Land" stars Lee Junho as a corporate heir seeking memories of his past and Lim Yoona as an employee at the titular hotel where he tries to find answers. The first episode will air on June 17th, this week being a break featuring two episodes of "The Good Bad Mother" on Saturday and a "Doctor Cha" behind-the-scenes special in the timeslot on Sunday. "King the Land" will stream internationally via Netflix on the same day as its television release.
