[HanCinema's News] Hong Ye-ji Cast for "2037"

Jung Entertainment recently confirmed that Hong Ye-ji, who is represented by the company, will appear in the leading role for the upcoming women's prison film "2037" by director Mo Hong-jin. Her character, Yoon-yeong, will be a girl sent to prison after getting entangled in an unfortunate incident. This will be the first project in this capacity for Mo Hong-jin since "Missing You - 2016" although he also worked in the production department for "The Great Battle" which was also released that same year.

Hong Ye-ji is an entirely new actress. At twenty years of age, she has no other screen credits and was purportedly selected for the role via audition. Though Hong Ye-ji has no acting credits she did appear as one of the contestants on the musical competition program Produce 48. Hong Ye-ji said in a statement released by her agency that though she is quite busy she is thankful for the opportunity as well as to Mo Hong-jin for believing in her.

Hong Ye-ji also thanked the screenwriter for the project, but did not mention this person by name. Nevertheless, her mentioning of the director and screenwriter as separate persons suggests that that Mo Hong-jin is not the also the film's screenwriter. Filming for "2037" began on May 25th. Hwang Suk-jung and Shin Eun-jung are among the other actresses who have been confirmed for the project.
