[HanCinema's News] Interest Builds for "Undercover"

On April 10th, the serial killer themed drama "Beyond Evil" completed its sixteen episode run with final ratings of 6%. "Beyond Evil" was a solid performer for jTBC, opening at 4.5% ratings with a low point of 3.8% reached in the fifth episode. As the network continues to experiment with more genre themed entertainment, the focus is now on "Undercover" which will take over the drama's timeslot on April 23rd following a break this week.

"Undercover" has immediately come under attention for its focus on legendary but older names. Ji Jin-hee and Kim Hyun-joo will take on the leading roles in the adaptation of the British drama of the same title. Comparisons are already being drawn between with "The World of the Married" which also relied more strongly on narrative intrigue than concept and was anchored by Kim Hee-ae. At that time she, too, was a legendary name fairly far removed from any recent hits.

"Undercover" also looks to utilize a similar tone, with Kim Hyun-joo's character being a prosecutor turning suspicious of her husband, played by Ji Jin-hee, not for adultery but because of a more broadly sinister motive. With Jung Man-sik and Han Go-eun also taking roles as the second leads, the drama is shaping up to be a tale of serious professionals using their veteran expertise on the grand scale for grand schemes. "Undercover" will air on Fridays and Saturdays at eleven in the evening Korean time.
