[HanCinema's News] "Josee" Holds 40% of Ticket Reservations Ahead of Release

While "Josee" will not officially release in theaters until December 10th the movie is already a certain lock for a box office win over the next week. Despite the movie's lack of availability, figures released by the Korean Film Council as of this writing show that over 14,000 people have already reserved tickets for the film. "Josee" makes up forty percent of all reservations at this time, facing only weak competition from the independent crime documentary "Evaporated" and various Christopher Nolan rereleases.

"Josee" is a romantic melodrama that stars Han Ji-min and Nam Joo-hyuk in the leading roles. It is the first mainstream release from director Kin Jong-kwan of "Worst Woman" and "The Table" and is also a remake of the Japanese film Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. Expectations for "Josee" are low due to the COVID-19 downturn in the South Korean film market. Due to recent increased COVID-19 public health restrictions, "Josee" is at present the last mainstream film of the year with a confirmed release date.
