Chae Jeong-man is listed as the partner to the other lead character, a detective played by Park Sung-hoon. Purportedly Jung Soon-won's character will have a more humanistic and free personality compared to the credited lead. In a statement, Jung Soon-won described his getting a role in a good project such as "The Kidnapping Day" as a stroke of luck. He described the original novel on which "The Kidnapping Day" is based as having an exciting story that lingers in the heart.

Jung Soon-won had many other credits throughout 2022, many of them also in crime stories. These include "Through the Darkness" and "The Good Detective - Season 2" in addition to "Yumi's Cells - Season 2" and "Under the Queen's Umbrella" which do not fit that genre description. "The Kidnapping Day" is expected to begin airing on ENA later this year.
