[HanCinema's News] Koo Hye-sun's Released Messages Shed Light on Recent Marital Troubles

On August 18th Koo Hye-sun released messages relating to a likely divorce with her husband Ahn Jae-hyun. Koo Hye-sun has since deleted the relevant messages, but their contents are already known. Koo Hye-sun starts by describing her husband as being changed into an aloof version of his former self and that she plans to protect her family from what she describes as false information set to be released next week.

According to the messages the dispute was prompted by Ahn Jae-hyun attempting to coordinate the release of information about their spat with the relevant persons behind the latest season of the food-based tvN variety show 'New Journey to the West'. Koo Hye-sun considered her mother's personal condition to be more relevant than Ahn Jae-hyun's work.

Ahn Jae-hyun replied by stating that the agreed upon documents were all that remained and that he didn't want to engage in any purposeless meetings. He suggested they continue as planned and meet, and that he wasn't refusing the idea of calling her mother. Koo Hye-sun responded by telling him to take responsibility for the divorce. He had to talk his way into it, he has to talk his way out of it, and the documents are a comparatively trivial concern.

These statements coupled with others suggest that Koo Hye-sun leaked these personal correspondences because she sensed that Ahn Jae-hyun and their agency were planning to release statements stating that she had agreed to the divorce. In fact, it would appear that such statements were a conditional guarantee to force Ahn Jae-hyun to follow through on the more troublesome emotional pratfalls of the divorce.

It is unclear whether Koo Hye-sun is attempting to punish Ahn Jae-hyun or whether she saw the negotiation as an attempt to save the marriage rather than destroy it once and for all. Curiously she has not yet left HB Entertainment, although the latest developments are pointing to an upcoming exit.
