[HanCinema's News] Lead Actors and Director of "Exit - Movie" Do Open Talk at BIFF

On October 4th writer/director Lee Sang-geun and lead actors Cho Jung-seok and Yoona participated in an Open Talk at the Busan International Film Festival for their film "Exit - Movie". The film opened in July at the South Korean box office and went on to earn 9.4 million admissions.

Yoona said that she was in a good mood, since her first starring role in a film had done so well. Lee Sang-geun mentioned how the reaction from his family has been surprising. People were surprised to see him in pictures together with Cho Jung-seok and Yoona and many sought him out for photos during Korean Thanksgiving.

Cho Jung-seok also talked about how his mom got overly emotional at movies, to the annoyance of other theatergoers, and how "Exit - Movie" was no different in that regard. He said that he had heard that she cried while watching it. Yoona mentioned how her family members thought her annoyed reactions in the movie were funny, because Yoona talks the same way when she's annoyed in real life.

Lee Sang-geun also had a chance to respond to the real-life push to make rooftop doors unlock automatically in the event of an emergency. Lee Sang-geun said that he had not intended to make a social statement with this particular element of the movie. He just said that he found the idea of locked rooftop doors an interesting design choice in the context of a disaster movie where getting to the roof was necessary to guarantee survival.

Lee Sang-geun mentioned that the scenes about the location of emergency supplies in the subway were a civic design choice. He thought such generally poorly known information might be of good use to people in the real world in the event of an emergency. Cho Jung-seok expressed positive sentiment toward the idea that the movie was better education people about emergency precautions.
