Lee Sung-kyung also discussed her career, noting that for her first leading role in "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo" she had to gain thirteen kilograms of weight to bulk up for the part of a serious athlete. Initially she was only supposed to put on four pounds of muscle, as she is already tall, around 175 centimeters. However, she ended up gaining thirteen kilograms, with this being reflected in a plot point in the drama of her character going up a weight class.

Lee Sung-kyung also described herself as at her most outgoing where the cast and crew for "Dr. Romantic" have gathered. Lee Sung-kyung was not in the first season of that drama, but was in "Dr. Romantic 2" as well as "Dr. Romantic 3" which is currently airing. Apparently, Lee Sung-kyung looks like a pea while wearing a doctor's coat. Going forward, Lee Sung-kyung said that as an actress she wanted to try to challenge new characters.
