[HanCinema's News] Loss of Sexual Attraction Not Grounds Enough to Allow Divorce of Koo Hye-sun and Ahn Jae-hyun

Following pronouncements by Koo Hye-sun that her husband was not expressing sexual interest in her and was talking to other women, the question has naturally arisen as to whether that alone is grounds for divorce. Legal experts have confirmed that under South Korean law such a statement is not meaningfully binding.

South Korea only allows for divorces to be declared either by fault or by mutual agreement. Ahn Jae-hyun wanting a divorce because he doesn't think his wife is sexy anymore does not qualify as fault on the part of Koo Hye-sun, particularly as she appears to have been trying unsuccessfully to smooth over the problems in the relationship.

Even accusations lobbed by Koo Hye-sun against Ahn Jae-hyun are probably not enough to qualify as enough to grant a divorce, as she has not accused him of adultery or violence. Her quickly deleted social media posts have been described as a form of violence against Ahn Jae-hyun, as they are a clear embarrassment to the actor's popular image. However, that is just a general description and not a legally binding one.
