[HanCinema's News] Title Behind "Love Affairs in the Afternoon" Explained

2019/07/10 | Permalink

The new Channel A drama "Love Affairs in the Afternoon" has attracted a lot of attention for its racy title. However, now that the drama has started airing "Love Affairs in the Afternoon" takes on a functional meaning, rather than a metaphorical one.

In the drama's second episode Soo-ah (played by Ye Ji-won) explains to Ji-eun (played by Park Ha-sun) about her lifestyle in the afternoon. From exactly three 'o clock to five 'o clock, she meets men. Soo-ah does this because two hours is enough to suit her emotional and physical needs.

The explanation belies the drama's unusual title, although it's fitting for the drama's overall tone. "Love Affairs in the Afternoon" is focused on taking life slowly. The second episode also makes a strong metaphorical connection between proper love affairs and proper flower spectating. It remains to be seen whether "Love Affairs in the Afternoon" will make a similar slow building relationship with its viewers.
