Hanryu star Lee Byung-hun to make inroads Taiwan in earnest

Hanryu (Korean wave) star Lee Byung-hun makes inroads Taiwan in earnest following Japan.

In company with cinema 'A Bittersweet Life's release in Taiwan, Lee who greets his 35th birthday on July 12 here, visits Taiwan on July 11 with a schedule of two nights and three days.

According to a person concerned, this visit was attained with an official invitation from Spring Entertainment side, Lee's distribution firm. With movie director Kim Jee-woon, Lee is scheduled to spend two nights and three days with stage greetings as well as a press conference.

A Bittersweet Life movie story involves the relationship btw the successor of an organization acted by Lee Byung-hun and his boss's woman. The story itself will start off by the internal conflicts btw the members themselves....

A Bittersweet Life has shown an impressive performance abroad. So far, the movie has been sold to France, the U.K., Benelux, Thailand and Singapore, and the movie has recorded the highest reservation rate among all Korean movies shown in Japan before its opening on April 23.

With its advancement to the Cannes Film Festival giving it momentum, the movie's potential to compete in major continental markets such as Spain, Italy, Scandinavia and even the U.S., was assessed to have soared, opening a new chapter in the history of Korean movie exports.

The movie A Bittersweet Life, directed by Kim Jee-woon and starring Lee Byung-heon, has been also invited to participate in the out-of-competition division of the 58th Cannes Film Festival.
