Horror film series "Coma", which airs on TV, deals with serial murders at a hospital.
Is it true that the screen size matters in magnifying the horror level of a film? Many say the bigger the screen, the more scared you will be when you watch a horror film.

But Kong Soo-chang, director of the 2004 war horror film "R-Point", says he was able to create new ways to terrify viewers as he made the horror film series "Coma" for television.

"It (making a film for TV) was quite an interesting experience", Kong said Monday during a news conference at Dansungsa Theater in downtown Seoul before the preview screening of the fifth episode of "Coma". "I'm now curious about how TV viewers will see the experimental attempts in the series".

Co-produced by the nation's biggest movie cable channel OCN and film production company Sio Film, "Coma" consists of five episodes that tell the story of serial murders taking place one night at a hospital.

The 50-minute series will hit the air first at 11 p.m. on July 21 through OCN and continue to air every Friday night at the same time for five weeks.

The first and last episodes _ "Birthday Party" and "Doctor Jang Seo-won" _ were directed by Kong while three new directors produced the other episodes: "Crack" by Jo Kyoo-ok, "Necklace" by You Joon-suk and "Crimson Red" by Kim Jeong-goo.

"It's like you're solving a puzzle. The last episode is the conclusion of the series, but each episode, which was stylishly made with their own charms created by different directors, gives audiences important clues regarding terrifying accidents", Kong said.

The series begins as five people are gathered in a hospital, which is about to be shut down because of its bad reputation. The group, consisting of a nurse, doctor, detective, insurance company employee, and a woman who takes care of her friend in a coma, share a secret about a girl's mysterious disappearance at the hospital 10 years ago.

The first episode works as a general introduction of the series while each of the following programs is devoted to one of the five characters, showing how they are involved in the incident.

Ten years ago in the hospital, a young female patient mysteriously disappeared with no witness and no clues left. Ten years after the incident, the hospital is about to close due to countless medical accidents.

The director of the hospital, chief doctor Jang Seo-won and nurse Kang Su-jin discuss how to deal with the only remaining patient in a coma at the hospital. And an insurance company employee Yoon-young, the comatose patient's friend Hong-ah and detective Choi, who was in charge of the girl's missing case, visit the hospital. That night, they are mysteriously killed one by one.
