Korean girl band Crayon Pop will open an upcoming North American tour by Lady Gaga to promote her third album "Artpop" released in November last year.

The five-member girl band attracted Gaga's attention when she came across their music video by chance during a break from practice.

Although Gaga initially asked Crayon Pop to open all 29 concerts in the North American tour, they could only agree to one month as they had prior commitment to work on their new album.

This is not the first time that a K-pop musician has drawn Gaga's attention. She made a surprise appearance at the K-pop Night Out event at South by Southwest, the biggest rock festival in the U.S., in Austin, Texas, on March 11. She was reported to have been asking around when Hyun-a of a K-pop girl group 4minute would take the stage.

One of Gaga's best friends is chef Bo-kyung O'Connor, who was adopted from Korea as a child. They went to middle and high school together in New York.

Gaga was spotted in an understated pink dress in June last year when she was one of the bridesmaids at Bo-kyung's wedding.
