2006/08/21 Source

The publication of The Making of The Host, a behind-the-scenes book detailing the film's complete production process

A book that presents the whole process of the making of box-office smash hit The Host has been published.
Highly acclaimed not only in Korea but also in the international scene, The Host's production technologies, capital and scenario were previously not disclosed to the public, intensifying the curiosity of the movie-going public.

The first chapter of the book, "Han River", shows the development of the scenario, the preproduction, budget, and the production process accompanied by photographs of Han River taken by the director of The Host, Bong Joon-ho. The second chapter, "The Family", details the daily production diary on every crucial scene of the film.

The third chapter, The Host, finally reveals the amazing visual effects, the process of making the monster in the film, and the post-production, all of which have been stirring up the curiosity and imagination of the public. Often considered the finest part of this behind-the-scenes book, the process of the birth of the monster introduces the reader to the process of making the monster from its initial designs to the modeling and the processing of its computer-generated imagery.

Celebrating the publication The Making of The Host, BOOK21 also offers those who purchase the book's first edition the scenario book of The Host, which was used by the director, actors, and staffs of the film. The scenario also contains an alternative version of the film that is different from the one shown in theaters.
