Hwang Soo-jung 'Better than Ever' After Five-Year Break

After a drug bust in 2001 that put her career on hold, actress Hwang Soo-jung (34) has finally made her comeback in a music video by the singer WAX. Yedang Entertainment, which represents the artist, in a press release Wednesday said Hwang worked all night for two days late last month to finish shooting the title track ("Because Love is Always Like That") for WAX's sixth album. It thoughtfully enclosed some pictures from the shoot.

Her handlers quoted Hwang as saying she was "really excited" since it was her first shoot in six years. "The song is a great fall track, the melody and lyrics touched my heart, and I'm just so happy to be a part of a video for such a good song", she was quoted as saying. In the promo, Hwang portrays the happiness and sadness of one woman through four changing seasons, from spring to winter.

"At first she was nervous so it took a fair amount of time to get the feeling and facial expressions, but she soon got back into the swing of things and ended up conveying more emotion than she ever did before", an agency spokesman said. "Especially in the scenes where she cried, it was impossible to believe that she hadn't worked in five years".

No appearances in movies or dramas have been settled on, however. "There are continuous attempts to woo her back to dramas and movies, but we are in the midst of looking into these offers carefully, and it's not yet time to discuss such things", the spokesman added.

The new music video will be released when the album hits the shelves in the middle of the month. News of the actress's return divided Netizens, some of whom wanted her banished forever for her drug offense while others said she has done her penance.
