In a recent ranking of EVs based on the distance they can travel on a full battery charge by U.S. auto website HybridCars, the Korean automakers followed only industry leader Tesla, which swept the top three spots.

Hyundai's Kona SUV came in fourth place with a range of 258 miles, followed by Kia's Soul and Niro SUVs with 243 and 239 miles.

All three are equipped with 64 kWh battery packs, but the Kona outperforms the other two thanks to its better aerodynamic efficiency.

Tesla's Model S sedan led the list with 335 miles with Model 3 sedan (310 miles) in second place and Model X SUV (295 miles) in third.

Rounding out the list were Chevrolet's Bolt hatchback (238 miles), Jaguar's I-Pace crossover (234 miles), Nissan's Leaf Plus hatchback (226 miles) and Audi's E-Tron SUV (204 miles).
