"I will come back to see you next time as a director!"

Stars literally blanketed the Annecy, with animation taking the helm and proving itself as a powerful influence. The 2007 Annecy Animation Festival, a prestigious animation festival responsible for selecting the most beautiful stars of all, was recently celebrated in Annecy, which is located in the South of France, in June 11 to 16.

One of the four world animation festivals designated by ASIFA, the Annecy Animation Festival attracted some of the largest stars in the animation industry around the world.

The Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA) teamed up with 12 participants from six winning teams from the 2007 College Student Animation Competition. Part of their prize was an opportunity to experience world-renowned and trend-setting animation, as well as expand their knowledge and expertise through a rich cultural experience.

This team, which is the second of its kind since last year, when the College Animation Competition was first founded, consisted mostly of college students believed to lead the future animation industry of Korea. This made the trip even more significant.

The team members, including Lee, Kyeong-Hee and Park, Cho-Hee from Sejong University, whose work, 4 AM, had won the Minister of Culture and Tourism Prize, the grand prize of the 2007 College Student Animation Competition arrived a day before the festival began. Having unpacked at Best Western Carlton Hotel, located about 10 minutes away from Bonliey Theatre, where the festival opening and closing ceremony was held, the team started with tour around the theater and its surrounding facilities.

Annecy is a famous vacation spot in France and its breathtaking beauty took the team members' breaths away. With a picturesque view of the mountains and calm lakes, the fact that the group stayed in antique dwellings completed the experience. The streets and surrounding scenery on the way to the Annecy theaters were almost similar to those from popular fairy tales, forging the perfect harmony of the fantasy and imagination that the festival would conjure through many animated films.
