Independent Films Go to International Fests

Local independent films will be going to two smaller international film festivals in the coming months. Lee Ho-sup's "Kurigo Ku Hu (And Thereafter)" will be screening in East to West, a non-competition section at the Sixth Tel-Aviv International Documentary Film Festival (www.docaviv.co.il), held from March 25 through April 3.

The film, about Korean women who married American soldiers to escape poverty after the Korean War but never adjusted to their new lives, was also screened locally at the Pusan International Film Festival last year.

Three animations will screen at the 12 th Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (www.itfs.de), to be held from April 1 through 6 in Germany.

"Insaeng (The Life),"a short animation by Kim Jun-ki will take part in the international competition section of the festival. "Outside," a short by Choi Seung-wong and Ah-young, is scheduled to screen in the young animations section.

Sung Baek-yeop's "Oseam," which was released locally last year, will show in the feature animations section.
