International Comics Conference & Festival with 300 Top Artists!

Over 300 comic artists from more than 20 countries in the world will gather at the 11th International Comic Artist Conference & the 13th Bucheon International Comics Festival. The events will take place at the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, from September 15th to 19th. The festival will be an opportunity for comic artists worldwide to come together to share their inspiration, as well as celebrate and promote this often overlooked modern form of media art.
The festival program consists of an Opening/Closing ceremony, Special & Planned Exhibition, Match-making between comic artists and comic book publishers, and an international conference and other side events, including signing sessions with famous cartoon artists. The Special & Planned Exhibition will include the "Asia Samgukji Comics Exhibition", displaying comics from China, Japan and Korea, allowing guests to make quick comparisons between the styles of the neighboring countries. Also on display are "Taeiri" by Choi Ho-Cheol; works by Taniguchi Giro, the winner of the "2010 Best Overseas Author"; and a range of artwork by veteran and rookie cartoonists.
A variety of cartoon-related events will be held for the general public, including the "Cosplay Competition", a series of events in which participants put on make-up and costumes of major comics characters to reenact scenes. There will also be the "Comic Express" where children can create their own comics; "Plaster Character Experience", where people can color comic characters drawn on plaster plates; "Caricature Experience", where you can get your caricature drawn by famous comic artists; and "Make Your Own 4D Comic Characters".
During the event period, a free shuttle bus service will be running between Songnae Subway Station (Seoul subway line 1) and the event venue. Operating hours are from 10:00 to 18:00. Entrance to the festival is free, although some experience programs require a small participation fee for the cost of materials.
