International Festival of Short Films to Be Held in Busan

An international festival of short films will be held concurrently in a total of 33 cities around the world including Korea's southern port city of Busan.

In cooperation with the French Embassy to Korea, "Cinematheque Pusan" announced its plan on Apr. 14 to hold its first international festival of short films for three days starting on Apr. 22.

Short films are movies that are typically less than three minutes in length. Such films have been presented in multiple showings on six other occasions in cities around the world, including Paris. It is the first time Korea will join this world-renowned short film festival.

This year, a total of 49 short films such as Irish film "An Agricultural Report" and Argentine film "Bush", will be shown.

"What is attracting the most attention is that more than half of this year's films are about UFOs. Another feature is that there are many works in which women's point of view, imagination and technique are expressed", said an official from Cinematheque Pusan.

The films will be shown at 1:00, 3:30, 6:00, and 8:20 p.m. on Apr 22-24. The total running time of the 49 films is 125 minutes. The admission fee is 5,000 won.
