[Interview] Kim Go-eun Has Come a Long Way Since Her Rookie Year

2018/06/28 | Permalink | Source

"I was burdened when I filmed "Goblin" and I was nervous when I filmed "A Muse". However, "Sunset in My Hometown" was better because there were many actors my age", said actress Kim Go-eun in a recent interview with Donga.

Ji Eun-tak from "Goblin" is back, in a more realistic way. She plays the part of Seon-mi in "Sunset in My Hometown" and she looked like the Count of Asura when she turned up for the interview on the 28th. Her new character didn't seem awkward at all.

"Ko-joon (Yong Dae) is the eldest in the movie and I am the youngest. We were always fooling around and went around drinking and singing when work was over. Everyone was new to each other except for Jung-min, but it felt like we'd been friends forever".

"Sunset in My Hometown" fostered amazing chemistry within the cast. When Donga asked Kim Go-eun to talk about the movie, she hesitated. Finally, she said, "It's really obvious, but I can't find a better word than 'healing' [to describe it]".

"Usually I think even being tired is a luxury, but this movie made me be more honest to myself. I'm sure it's priority to make the audience feel comfort and healing, but I did so too".

This is the first time Kim Go-eun worked with Park Jung-min, a fellow senior at the Korean School of Arts. She was astounded to see him perform.

"I always thought I did my best, but watching Jung-min made me look back on myself. He acts, raps, writes songs, and even tap dances. He works way too hard".

Kim Go-eun debuted with "A Muse"; it's been 7 years since then. Now certain rookie actresses are being called 'the next Kim Go-eun'. She should feel proud of herself".

"Me? Talk about myself? No way. All I can say is, I put on a lot of weight for "Sunset in My Hometown". I still have a long way to go, but I'm always doing my best".
