French actress Isabelle Huppert is starring in Korean auteur director Hong Sang-soo's next film. In accordance with the director's fluid working style, the film is as yet untitled and the story is under wraps.
During a visit to Korea in May for a photo exhibition on herself and for publicity on her film Copacabana, Isabelle Huppert had mentioned she would like to work with Korean directors such as Lee Chang-dong, Hong Sang-soo, Im Sang-soo, Kim Ki-duk, Park Chan-wook and Bong Joon-ho.
Hong, who has started shooting up to two films a year recently, is the first to take her up on the idea of starring in a Korean auteur film. The iconic actress has won multiple prizes from Cannes, Venice and Berlin for films such as The Piano Teacher and 8 Women.
The film is currently shooting around South Korea in locations such as Bu-an in North Jeolla Province, Tae-an in South Chungcheong Province and in different locations in Gyeonggi Province.
It is due to be ready for a premiere the second half of the year.
