Saenuri Party lawmaker Lee No-keun on Thursday cited Korea Appraisal Board data showing that a 244 sq.m apartment at Prugio WorldMark let in March last year cost W10.5 million a month on top of a W100 million deposit (US$1=W1,189).

The average monthly rent for an apartment in Seoul stands at W813,000 and the nationwide average is W560,000.

The two 39-story Prugio WorldMark skyscrapers opened in June 2013.

An estate agent explained that the rent is so high because they are close to the Han River Park, Seokchon Lake and Olympic Park and very accessible by Subway Line Nos. 2 and 8, as well as being within walking distance to Lotte World Mall and Homeplus.

Other super-expensive apartments are iPark at Busan's Haeundae Beach (W7 million a month) and Samsung in Seohyeon-dong, Bundang, Gyeonggi Province (W5 million a month).
