The IRM stated, "The release of "Jung Joon-young's chat room" has taken away all the attention to celebrities' and the late Jang Ja-yeon's message, 'humans before power' is fading".

"Jang Ja-yeon, a rookie actress who was about to make a reputation for herself, killed herself on the 7th of March in 2009, and a document she wrote was found on the 13th, just a few days after she died. There, Jang accused about 30 businessmen, including owners of influential media companies, of receiving sexual favors from her and of her being subjected to violence and verbal abuse from the representatives of the agency".

"Jang risked her life to beg for the world to change and when this came to surface, there was a chance to put things right. However, despite the 30 names that were revealed, only the agency representative was detained for his crimes".

"The Jang Ja-yeon case is the root of the #MeToo movement and it is an event that can fundamentally change the world of commercializing using women for sex. However, the perpetrators weren't punished and the revelations left us with a deep sense of debt".

In addition, "Strangely enough, every time news about Jang Ja-yeon's death comes up, a new kind of issue like the 'Jung Joon-young chat room' tries to cover it up. Please pay attention to the social murder case until there is a thorough investigation to enact a special law to punish the perpetrators".

The IRM added, "Yoon Ji-oh, who suffers from surveillance and is threatened for her safety, is a public-informer and one of the most important keys to solving future cases. She needs to be protected".

The Internal Report Movement awarded Jang Ja-yeon with the Special Lee Moon-ok Bright Society Award, an award given to a public-informer in December last year.
