Japan calls for 'TBS DIGICON 6+3 Award'

The Korea Culture and Content Agency's (KOCCA, CEO: Seo, Byung-Moon) Japanese office is currently receiving works for the TBS DIGICON 6+3 Award, hosted by TBS, Japan.

Now in its ninth year, this award has been called "6+3" to emphasize TBS' channel 6. Aside from the final awarding ceremony in Japan, seven local awards are held in seven countries, namely in Korea, India, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand. The grand prix work from each local award is invited to the final awarding event in Japan.

About 14 works are to be selected in local Korean award this year. The grand prix (one work) will receive a prize money of 120,000 yen, the second place (one work) will be given 60,000 yen, the third place (one work) will be given 30,000 yen. Also, one special mention will receive 12,000 yen and each of the 10 finalists will be given a testimonial.

The grand prix at the final awarding event in Japan (one work) will receive a trophy, a testimonial and 500,000 yen; the best works (three works) will receive a testimonial and 250,000 yen each; finalists (five works) will receive a testimonial and 50,000 yen; the winner of the Marunochi Award (one work) will receive a testimonial and 50,000 yen; and the winner of the BS-i Award will be given a testimonial and 100,000 yen.

There are no limitations on subject matter, as long as the works observe this year's theme of "environment". Any digital work, either CG animation or film shot by digital film equipment that have been processed digitally, can be submitted.

Meanwhile, the KOCCA Japanese Office offers assistance to applicants who may need help in completing the application form in Japanese. Those who wish to participate in the competition should visit KOCCA's website (http://www.kocca.kr), download the application form and submit it along with the entry to the office by mail by July 3.

The ceremony for the local award and the final award will be held at the Japanese Office on July 10 and at the Tokyo Marunochi Building on Sept. 29, respectively.
