Japanese-Born TV Star in 'Reverse Export'

The Japanese-born actress Yuko Fueki (27) is preparing for a triumphant return her homeland via the small screen. At a press conference on Thursday, Yuko Fueki, as her birth certificate reads, confirmed she has signed a contract with the influential management company Oscar Pro and is expected to appear on Japan's Fuji TV in a soap with the working title "Attention Please".

The actress is returning to her homeland five years after she left to come work in Korea in 2001.

Yuko Fueki made her debut in Korea with MBC drama "Our Home", followed by such dramas as All In, and "Stained Glass". But it wasn't until last year's stunning performance opposite Son Chang-min in "Bad Wife" that she was launched into stardom here. The Japanese press has closely followed her work.

"Japanese Actress Yuko Fueki Returns in Triumph", her home country's Sankei Sports newspaper headlined on Friday, calling her homecoming a "reverse import" on the cusp of the Korean Wave. The paper reminded readers that Yuko Fueki has worked with Korean superstars like Bae Yong-joon, Lee Byung-hun and Jang Dong-gun and now wants to make it Asia-wide.
