He passed away after losing a battle with depression on the 21st of January. His sister, actress Ha Ji-won, said she wanted a peaceful, quiet funeral.

She was careful when speaking about her brother. When the soft-hearted and introverted Jeon first decided to be a celebrity, she'd held him back saying, "It's not too late to begin after you come back from National Service". She suggested he took care of priorities first as 2004 was a time of controversy regarding National Service matters amongst celebrities. Ha Ji-won once interviewed that she tried to talk him out of it, hoping his thoughts might change after he was done with duty.

In those days, Ha Ji-won was filming "Daddy-Long-Legs" and she wasn't able to attend a few of his ceremonies, but she never missed any of his stage appearances, even when they were far away. Her brother had been in Gwangju as a combat police officer.

Ha Ji-won's manager claimed Ha Ji-won was very worried about her brother and his military life. Every time she was in Gwangju, she visited him and took him and his friends out for food. It was the best thing she could do as a celebrity sister.

Like she advised, Jeon Tae-soo finished military service in 2007 and appeared in dramas, "Kid Gang", "Good Day to Love", and "The King and I". As a rookie, his numerous appearances were impressive.

During his National Service, his sister secured auditions for him. It was her way of keeping the promise she made to him about having chances when he returned from the military.

Celebrity families, couples, and siblings often don't have time to see each other. However, Ha Ji-won did her best to support her brother even when she was busy with several movies such as "Miracle on 1st Street", "BA:BO", "Haeundae" and "Closer to Heaven". However, she looked over scenarios her brother brought home and helped him to analyze them as a more experienced actor.

Ha Ji-won helped her brother out no matter how late she finished work. She even played the opposing role when he practiced his lines, supporting him as a sister and a senior actor.

Jeon Tae-soo managed to land a role in "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and could proudly say he was Ha Ji-won's brother. However, a drunken accident in 2011 affected him greatly and he had to quit his dramas. He'd been in a slump since and began to battle depression.

Ha Ji-won supported her brother, frequently mentioning her normal life in interviews. She talks about the pressure a celebrity goes through. She had tried to stop her brother from going through the same thing and knew that success was his only way. Whenever he asked to see her, she was there. Her grief must be great, but her devotion towards her younger brother is somethign we will always remember.
