Jeonju Int'l Film Festival to Open April 26

The 8th Jeonju International Film Festival will be held in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province April 26 through May 4.

More than 180 movies from 37 countries will be shown at the festival in 13 theaters, including the Sori Arts Center of North Jeolla Province and the Jeonju branch of the theater chain Megabox.

The opening film will be "Off Road" and the closing one "Exiled", reflecting the festival's nature that focuses on Korean independent films.

In the "Korean Films" section 26 Korean movies will be screened through a showcase demonstrating top-quality commercial films. The category "Choice of Korean Films", which shows Korean short films from a critical standpoint, has been changed into a competition category this year.

The digital short-film project "Short Short Short", which selects and supports three film directors, will be instroduced as a new section this year. Starting from this year, the "Jeonju Digital Project 2007" section will cover not only films from Asia but from Europe as well, with Portugal's Pedro Costa, German's Harun Farocki, and American-born director Eugene Green from France participating.
