Actor Ji Sung, who drew attention by choosing to be a soldier instead of a public service agent when he was drafted to serve his country, entered army boot camp in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, on June 7.

Ji, who arrived at the camp shortly after noon in a white van along with his family and manager, held a half-hour meeting with his fans in front of the main gate of the camp. He said his girlfriend, actress Park Sol-mi, had said she loved him before saying good-bye. Ji also expressed his gratitude to his fans, saying he is just an ordinary actor who has done his best thanks to their love and support.

Over 30 journalists from Korea and abroad as well as some 150 members of Ji's fan club came to see him off.

After a four-week training period, Ji will be assigned to an army unit to begin his two-year military service.
