Jo Hee-bong to Star in "The Red Sleeve"

Actor Jo Hee-bong has confirmed his appearance in "The Red Sleeve".

The new MBC drama "The Red Sleeve" is based on a popular webtoon of the same name. It depicts the life of Seong Ui-bin, who was a court lady and rose to the rank of the first queen as a lady of the court, and her love with King Jeongjo, the 22nd king of the Joseon Dynasty. It is the work of writer Jeong Hae-ri and director Jeong Ji-in.

In the drama, Jo Hee-bong plays Hong Jeong-yeo, an ambitious left-wing politician who tries to control the Joseon royal family as he pleases. As Yi San's opposition, he will show off his charisma by confronting Lee Junho, who plays Yi San, as a figure who he seeks a chance to defeat.

Jo Hee-bong, who has shown luxurious performances from creepy villains to comical appearances through numerous works, is expected to turn into a villain who inspires extreme tension in "The Red Sleeve".

Meanwhile, MBC's "The Red Sleeve" is scheduled to air for the first time in the second half of 2021.
