Jobseekers Favor Quality of Life Over High Pay

The most important factor young jobseekers look for in a new job is a corporate culture that gives them time to enjoy their lives rather than high pay, a poll suggests.

YBM Education, which administers English proficiency test TOEIC, asked 3,294 test-takers and found that 43.6 percent of them put the top priority on the work-life balance when choosing a company they wish to work for.

High pay came second with 25.2 percent, followed by perks and benefits (17.3 percent), lifetime employment guarantee (7.8 percent) and corporate prestige (6.1 percent).

YBM Education said the poll "reflects the values of young Koreans, who place more importance on quality of life than high wages or how they are seen by others".
