K-Pop Bands Score Hat Trick at MTV Japan Awards

Three K-pop groups won prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan, which was held in Makuhari Messe, Chiba, on Saturday.

Girls' Generation grabbed the Best Album of the Year award, 2PM the Best Group Video award, and 2NE1 the Best New Artist Video award at the event, which is now in its 11th year.

Sixteen winners were selected in as many categories based on an online vote. In order to be eligible, the artists and bands have been active in the country for the past year.

EXILE, one of Japan's most popular idol groups, won the Best Video award.
