Kang Je-gyu to sign with Hollywood talent agency

Korean director Kang Je-gyu, whose last two films Taegukgi (2004) and Shiri (1999) both set local box-office records, is about to sign on with major Hollywood talent agency CAA. The agreement is expected to lead to KANG's next film being shot with a Hollywood company.

CAA (Creative Artists Agency) was founded in 1975, and is one of Hollywood's top three talent agencies together with William Morris and International Creative Management. The company manages both top stars as well as directors and noted crew members. Among its members are Steven Spielberg, Oliver Stone, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, and members of the music and video game industries.

With this agreement, expected to be signed by the end of the month, KANG will become the first Korean director to join one of the major Hollywood agencies.

According to MKB -- the new company formed by a merger of Kang JeGyu Films and Myung Films -- director KANG has been receiving offers from major Hollywood studios regarding his next film. Currently he is considering various offers but has not made a decision about his next project.
