2005/08/08 Source

Prominent Korean actors, film directors and producers will appear on TV to discuss the past, present and future of Korean movies. Entitled "60 Years of Korean Movies through the Eyes of 60 Culture Figures", the program was prepared by KBS TV1's "TV Culture Zone" to mark the 60th anniversary of the nation's liberation from colonial rule and the six decades of the Korean film industry.

The program will air August 9 at 11:45 PM. It will cover the six-decade history of the local film industry from the 1960s, when Korean movies were at the zenith of their popularity thanks to outstanding directors like Shin Sang-ok, Yu Hyun-mok, Lee Man-hee-I and Kim Ki-young, to the period of military dictatorship, when directors Lee Jang-ho and Bae Chang-ho displayed their talent even in the face of harsh reality, to the new wave of the 1980s, and finally to the industrialization and diversification of Korean movies after the 1990s.

The program will feature 15 leading actors and filmmakers who will discuss the Korean movie industry, including Kang Woo-seok, Park Chan-wook, Kim Jee-woon, Im Sang-soo, Jang Mi-hee, Choi Min-sik, Moon Sung-geun, Moon So-ri and Lee Hye-young-I.
