SM Entertainment stated in a press release on Thursday that the Ministry of Justice had chosen Kangta as an ambassador due to the leading role he plays in promoting the Hallyu, or Korean Wave, and f(x) for the active singing career they have been pursuing both domestically and overseas.

"We hope they will help instill a sense of multiculturalism among the people as well as inform the world of Korea's openness to multiculturalism", explained a representative from the Ministry of Justice.

Kangta and f(x) will be attending an appointment ceremony to be held at the Ministry of Justice building at the city of Gwacheon in the Gyeonggi Province today.

Together Day, which kicked off in 2007, falls on May 20 of every year where for a week, local Korean governments come together to hold various events for the cause.

Kangta, whose real name is Ahn Chil-hyun, made his debut as the lead singer in the now-disbanded boy band H.O.T. He released several albums after kicking off his solo career in 2001 and recently met with his fans in Asia after finishing his mandatory military service. He is currently working on a new album.

f(x), composed of five girls including Sulli, Jung Soo-jung, Luna, Amber and Victoria, stepped into the local music scene in 2009 with single "LA chA TA". They released their first mini-album "NU ABO" on Tuesday which they will showcase at KBS music show "Music Bank" on Friday.
