KBA Welcomes 24-Hour Airing of TV Programming

2009/12/22 | 205 views | Permalink | Source

The Korean Broadcasters Association has welcomed the Korea Communications Commission's decision to expand the airing time of terrestrial broadcasters to 24 hours.

The association said Wednesday that the decision not only guarantees viewers' right to choose programming but also provides a way to enhance viewer welfare by expanding the types of programming available at late night hours when cable channels typically air programs unsuitable for younger viewers.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Korea Communications Commission announced that it would ease late-hour airing restrictions on terrestrial broadcasters.

Currently, terrestrial broadcasting companies --- including KBS, MBC and SBS --- are prohibited from airing programs from one to six a.m.
