KBS's "Love in Asia" receives YWCA's Best Program Award

Korea YWCA (Chair: Park, Eun-Kyeong) announced on Dec. 5 that it has selected KBS1 TV's "Love in Asia" as the recipient of the eleventh YWCA Best Program Award.

Since its first broadcast in November last year, Love in Asia is considered to have improved the public's social awareness about families involved in an international marriage and provided practical alternatives to problems arising from such unions.

YWCA also selected Mother of Kkamgeun, SBS's Chuseok special drama as the winner in the category of women's issues. The drama tells the story of a woman who immigrates to Korea, finds herself resisting and fighting racism, and acts as a leader in the family to create harmony among family members.

MBC's special program My Child's Diet, which dared to uncover the nutritional imbalance in school lunch programs and the issues of sanitation, won the award in the environment category.
YWCA also selected for an award in the category of peace SBS's Knowledge Channel, a documentary-style program that discusses issues surrounding social peace and stimulates discussion among viewers. A special award went to MBC's Zero Complaint, which brings the consumers' rights into relief.

The selection for the awarding programs was conducted first by the recommendation of a total of 85 programs that had been broadcast in terrestrial wave channels, cable TV channels and satellite channels from Nov. 11 in 2005 to Oct. 2006. The programs then went through thorough screening processes performed by the Seoul YWCA Monitor Team and a jury consisting of specialists in the field.
