Kia Unveils New Niro Electric SUV

Kia on Wednesday unveiled the electric version of its Niro SUV at the International Electric Vehicle Expo on Jeju Island.

The SUV can travel between 240 km and 380 km on a single charge, depending on the capacity of the battery. It also features advanced safety technologies including smart cruise control and forward collision-avoidance assist.

Over 5,000 pre-orders were already placed in February.

"We sold a total of 23,647 Niro hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric models last year", a Kia spokesman said. "With the electric version, we hope to lead the green car market".
