A job center run by the Seoul Metropolitan Government conducted a survey last month on 2,012 elementary and middle school students and it showed that 46.8 percent preferred working moms rather than those who stay at home#.

Some 31.8 percent prefer stay-at-home moms and 21.4 percent did not give an answer.

Of those who preferred their moms to have jobs, 34.9 percent said that having a job made their mom appear to be more competent. Other reasons included less parental meddling due to their moms' busy schedule, and more pocket money.

Among those who complained about working moms, 39.4 percent said they didn't get enough care or attention as their moms were not usually unavailable when they got home from school.

Of all the respondents, 65 percent felt sorry for their mom's heavy workloads.
