Kim Dong-wan Confirmed for "The Singer"

Singer and actor Kim Dong-wan is starring in the movie "The Singer", a sageuk drama about pansori based in the late Joseon times, depicting the sorrows experienced by vocalists during the era.

Kim Dong-wan takes on the role of a member of the pansori crew who goes through the process of relieving the hardships experienced while living in Joseon, consoling the people who are devastated by the extortion, and becoming one with the members of the people he meets along the way.

Kim Dong-wan made his film debut in 2004 and continued to star in several more movies, bringing out his color in each and every one of them. Therefore, his performance in "The Singer" is highly anticipated.

Not only that, Kim Dong-wan has appeared in several dramas as well as well as "The Vertex", a sageuk in which he played a poet, a novelist and a fighter for independence.

Kim Dong-wan explained, "I am so honored to be in director Cho Jung-rae's meaningful film. I am trying very hard to learn how to play the traditional pansori drums and I am also learning Korean calligraphy to better understand the character and my role".

Meanwhile, "The Singer" begins filming this September and comes out early next year.
