Kim Jae-won Holds Online Meeting with 140,000 Chinese-speaking Fans

Actor Kim Jae-won held an online meeting with some 140,000 fans from the Chinese-speaking region on May 29 on the "Entertainment Channel", the most popular program of the largest Chinese portal website Sina.com.

Sina.com organized the online meeting and invited Kim, who had earlier received the Best Overseas Star Award at the Top TV Series Ceremony held in Beijing, China on May 27.

Some 140,000 Chinese-speaking fans accessed the "Entertainment Channel", which usually features top Chinese stars, to see Kim. The Korean actor was bombarded with over 9,000 questions.

Kim also stole the spotlight in Jakarta, Indonesia, which he visited May 25 as a spokesperson for the TV Korea Showcase 2005 organized by the Korea Broadcasting Commission. Some 100 journalists from Indonesia's newspapers, cable television stations, and national state-run broadcaster competed for coverage of a press conference staged by Kim there.

Kim now has over 500 fans in Jakarta, with his popularity soaring in Indonesia since his starring role in the drama "My Love Patzzi", which aired in that country on cable TV.

"Some 50 fans waited for Kim in the hotel lobby all night long, and more than 150 reporters flocked to the press conference", said one of Kim's staff members.
