The website for the prestigious chart showed that "Wait", Kim's third full-length Japanese album, secured the No. 7 spot immediately following its release on November 17.

The album, the last of Kim's four records he recorded before halting his activities for two years to fulfill Kora's mandatory military service, was produced by famed Japanese producer Toshiaki Matsumoto and composer Komorita Minoru.

His agency Mersenne Entertainment explained through a statement that the album was Kim's way of expressing gratitude to his fans who have waited for him while he serves in the army.

Kim, who has been at the Defense Media Agency since April of last year where he is also the DJ for military radio show "Kim Jeong-hoon's Voicemail", will be discharged from the military on February 28 of next year.

Mersenne said Kim is already receiving requests for fan meetings in Japan, China and other Asian countries and that he plans to make a comeback through a TV series once he is discharged from the army.

Kim, 30, debuted through male duo "UN" with the single "Voice Mail" in 2000. When the group disbanded in 2005 he turned to acting and starred in several dramas starting with the runaway hit MBC drama "Princess Hours" in 2006.

Kim then resumed his music career in Japan where he has released several singles and albums under the name "John Hoon".
