At the movie's press conference that took place on 3 January in Lotte Cinema Konkuk University Seoul, Kim Myung-min revealed how he came up with the idea of such a character.

He said, "There's a lot of running scenes and I was contemplating on how best to portray Joo Man Ho's desperate state. I imagined that when a sick horse runs, it completely reveals its gums and it breathes heavily".

He added, "I was selected as an entertainer with good and even teeth. But to show the appearance of a running horse, I personally suggested to the director that I wear artificial teeth".

In addition to the artificial teeth, another transformation of Kim Myung-min was his noticeable weight loss. However, Kim Myung-min clarified that the weight loss was not due to diet but to intense physical training.

"Pacemaker" tells about the life of Joo Man Ho (Kim Myung-min), a poor and selfless man who has spent his life living for others. As a retired national marathoner, he gets scouted by the cold-hearted marathon director (Ahn Sung-ki) to run again. This time, to pace for star marathoner (Choi Tae-joon) at the 2012 London Olympics. With this comes his chance of pursuing his longtime dream of running for himself and finishing a full marathon. Will he succeed?

This heartwarming and emotional movie is the big screen debut of veteran musical director, Kim Dal-jeong. It is produced by Dream Capture Studios and released by Cinergy and Lotte Entertainment. Screening in Korean theaters is scheduled on 19 January.
